Stob A Choire Odhar – 15th August

Again working for Rob Roy Tours – and 11 lucky punters today.  A typical scottish day – t-shirt at bottom, and hat and gloves on summit.  HOwever we were below the cloud base, so had some decent views south and east…

Ben Nevis – 3rd August

Up again – but this time with a view, oh and look below – the classic Ben Nevis Hill walker – this is Phil ( I think – he was reluctant to reveal details about himself) – something to do with the underwater centre….

…and a Morrisons Bag…

Stob A Choire Odhar – 1st August

Working for Rob Roy again and took 10 to the summit.  Misty on top, and two did not make it….I left them in a bivvy bag and picked them up on the way back down.  These Scottish Hills are just too much…

Stob Dearg 31st July

Today the boys did their third Munro.  The weather was awful after all the great weather we have had, and it was very gusty.  Ho

ON the summit. Those are happy faces, I think?

wever they soldiered on, and made the top in three hours….

We then walked home over Bheinn Bhan which was cool

En route to the Bealach- just started to rain properly

Northern Foray – 9th-15th July

Guiding for Glen and Mountain Guides this week – ticking Corbetts

9th July – Quinag with Liz and Chippy. Great hill, pity about the weather

10th July – Mac Dougall – with Liz. Boring slog up the ridge. Heavy and very wet! rain from about 11 until we got down, and as we could not see anything from the summit, did not go for my exciting and new route don, but retraced our steps. (although have since found my ‘new’ route in the Cicerone guide

11th July – Meall Horn with Liz and Kate – a better day, but still needing to navigate – this was not in the programme. Good stalkers track up and nice descent down the ridge. Wanted to do Arkle as well, but clients wanted to wait until tomorrow.

12th July – Arkle with Liz and Kate – a gorgeous day with great views.  Nice hill.  Went up the tourist route, but descended from the Bealach South into the valley which was good.  Would not recommend it as a route up though as scree is easier to go up than down.  A good breeze kept the midges away

13th July – Cranstackie  – Beinn Spionnaidh with Liz and Kate.  Parked a little way along the track and ascended into the corrie.  Decided not to go up to the Bealach but ascended the West ridge of Cranstackie which brought us directly onto the summit.  Lovely bouldery climb at the end.  An interesting route down to the Bealach and then up to the second summit.  Descended off the West ridge to make a nice circular route

14th July – Foinaven with Kate.  despite my pleading was not able to make an end to end journey, so just up to the summit and back.  A slog over bog, up a featureless slope and a slog back.  Only for the dedicated ticker….but has the look of a cracking day out  – will be back

15th July – Ben Hee with Liz.  Finished a cracking week off with a quick whiz up Ben Hee.  A lovely stalkers path in, an easy climb to the summit, and fantastic views from the top….
