Sgorr Dearg – 21/02/11

Got dropped off in Glenachulish and walked up the new track to the bealach between Sgorr Dearg and Sgorr Dhonuill.  Was taking Sarah Jane, my 18 year old niece up her first Munro.  There are signs every where that this track is closed as there is felling going on, but there was none as of this date.  Will keep you all updated on this.  There was still a fair bit of snow on the ascent to the Bealach but it was soft, making climbing very slow.  However most has now gone (writing on 26/02/11).

Visibility disappeared from this point and we made our way up onto the summit, around onto Beinn Bhan and back down into Ballachulish via the North ridge.

A great day, and a great achievement for Sarah Jane – her first time in crampons and with an ice axe.  Well done!
