winter adventures with the boys part 1

Two days booked with Rob and his mates. Forecast was not good and plenty of snow around.

As Rob had already ticked Meall a Bhuiridh, we set off to Bridge of Orchy to ease the boys into winter climbing.

We headed up to the bealach between Beinn Dorain and Beinn an Dothaidh, and because of the cloud headed right.

There was plenty of snow and we took turns trail breaking. No need for crampons, but we managed a few ice axe arrests. The reached the first cairn in time for full winter conditions to hit us and visibility was virtually zero.  A quick traverse to the summit and we started heading downhill, not able to follow our tracks as they had disappeared.  Had we actually been there?

We descended to the col, and put on our crampons for the descent into the glen, and a welcome pint in the hotel…
