Beinn a’Chaorainn

Stayed the night with some friends and persuaded Jimmy and Rosanna to come out hill walking with Liahm and I.  Decided on Beinn a’Chaorainn as it was only a few minutes drive away.

The books are all correct – the path up through the forest is wet and muddy, but once out on the open hillside we had fun finding a scrambling way up and over Meall Clachaig

We then worked our way up onto the summit taking in the glorious views, watching the rain miss us and seeing at least half a dozen Ptarmigan.  Enjoyed not following a path and not meeting any other hikers.

The first top has a great cairn with a good wind break but we headed to the real summit at great speed as it seemed the rain was going to get us now…

Rosanna got her wish of walking in the clouds and we made a hasty retreat due west down into the valley.  However the bonus was we saw at least 50 deer and found a hillside full of blaeberries.

Enjoying the Blaeberries!!!

The kids enjoyed the walk home….
